ITEC DIPLOMA IN INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE
This course is held conjointly with On-site Massage Students may sit either examination or both
Successful students will be awarded I.T.E.C INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE diploma
Eligible Students - ITEC graduates and members of caring professions, nurses, social workers, leisure industry members, beauty therapists provided they have qualified in ITEC Holistic Massage or its equivalent.
The main aim of the ITEC Level 3 Diploma is to enable students to provide treatments for the purposes of relaxation and stress release.
It also aims:
. to provide opportunities for staff in the Beauty Therapy industry to gain a Level 3 qualification . to qualify students as Indian Head Massage Therapists at Level 3 in the Beauty /Therapy industry . to qualify students in seated massage techniques to relieve muscular tension concentrating on face, scalp, neck, base of skull, and shoulders. . to provide opportunities for students to focus on the development of the major Key skills and the wider Key skills in a therapy context such as communicating with clients, working with others and problem solving . to provide opportunities for students to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as an Indian Head Massage Therapist.
The student will study the theory of all treatments as well as the anatomy of the whole body. Contraindications and recognition of skin diseases and disorders are also a vital part of their training as well as the underpinning knowledge and skills required to successfully perform the treatments: Indian Head Massage.
This award qualifies graduates to operate their own clinic or home visiting practice. Graduates can also find gain employment in Beauty Salons, Health Clubs, Health Farms, Spas and Cruise Liners.
INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE (UNIT 6) EXAMINATION CRITERIA
Case Studies:
Five individuals to be treated with complete client records.
Practical Examination:
To include consultation, massage of neck, shoulders, as directed by the Examiner.
Oral Questions:
At the discretion of the Practical Examiner
Theory Examination:
2 hour, 50 question, multi-choice examination in Unit 6 Indian Head Massage
Students may also sit On-site Massage exam
COURSE TIMES
Indian Head Massage/On-site Massage classes are held over 21 weeks 6.00pm to 10.00pm Thursday Courses commence in February or September
